Slam Dunk Festival announce discontinuation of Birmingham date in 2019
Popular alternative music festival Slam Dunk will not return to the Midlands next year.
The event has been hosted at Birmingham NEC since 2016, following a move from Wolverhampton Civic Hall where the Midlands date of the three-day event had been held since 2013.
In a statement on the festival's Facebook page, organisers stated: "Going forward, we have two large outdoor sites where we have much more flexibility to deliver what you want.
"Unfortunately this means we are unable to run a third day, so Slam Dunk Festival Midlands will not be happening in 2019".
This change follows the site move for the South date of the event this year, from The Forum in Hatfield to Hatfield Park. The success of this has meant the North date will now move from Leeds City Centre to Temple Newsham Park.
To cater to Midlands fans, the festival has teamed up with travel company Big Green Coach Company to offer transportation to Leeds and Hatfield from Birmingham.
The event has hosted a range of big names in rock in the Midlands, such as All Time Low, The All-American Rejects, Less Than Jake, You Me At Six, Architects, Reel Big Fish, Panic! At The Disco, Enter Shikari, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World and many more.
Disgruntled fans have taken to social media to air their disappointment following the announcement:
