Pink Floyd's Roger Waters to play Birmingham
Pink Floyd icon Roger Waters will perform for fans in Birmingham next year - in his first European tour since 2013.
The co-founder of the band, which was formed in 1965, initially served as the group's bassist - but following the departure of Syd Barrett back in 1968, Roger also became Pink Floyd's lyricist, co-lead vocalist and conceptual leader.
In 1990, Roger staged one of the largest and most extravagant rock concerts in history, The Wall – Live in Berlin, with an official attendance of more than 200,000.
As a member of Pink Floyd, he was inducted into the U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
Pink Floyd achieved international success with the concept albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. By the early 1980s, they had become one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful groups in the history of popular music. By 2013, they had sold more than 250 million albums worldwide.
Roger will play Arena Birmingham as part of this Us + Them tour, which is set to feature songs from Pink Floyd’s greatest albums, plus some new songs from his new, best-selling album Is This the Life We Really Want?
The tour marks the first time Roger has returned to touring in Europe since The Wall Live, which ran from 2010 to 2013, and attracted more than 4 million fans globally.
Roger will play the city centre venue on July 7.
Tickets to the show go on sale this Friday at 9am, priced between £74.35 and £108.25.
