Birmingham Comedy Festival 2017: Greg Davies, Matt Lucas, Joe Lycett and Henning Wehn among acts set to perform
Comedy fans will be treated to a 10-day festival filled with stand-up and shows in Birmingham later this year.
The Birmingham Comedy Festival will include acts such as Greg Davies, Matt Lucas, Joe Lycett and Henning Wehn.
The festival kicks off with the fourth Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award, which will take place on October 6 at The Glee Club.
On October 8 and 15, there will then be free 'Half-Dayers' at two city venues in close proximity to one another, Cherry Reds and The Victoria, in John Bright Street. More than 16 acts will perform over these two days, including Josh Pugh, Foghorn Unscripted, Andy Robinson and Masai Graham.
Inbetweeners and Taskmaster star Greg Davies will perform at the Symphony Hall on October 9 and 10, while Little Britain comedian Matt Lucas will take to the stage at Birmingham Town Hall on October 14.
Brummie comedian Joe Lycett will perform on October 10 at The Glee Club and on October 11 at Birmingham Town Hall.
Other comedians set to perform include Henning Wehn on October 13 and 14 at Birmingham Town Hall, and Comedy Central's Impractical Jokers on October 12 at the Barclaycard Arena.
Australian short film festival Over The Fence will take place at The Walkabout on October 12, which will include a screening of Not Sophie’s Choice starring Catherine Tate.
Meanwhile, fans of classic comedy can revel in Monty Python’s Spamalot! (running from October 3-7 at the New Alexandra Theatre), an afternoon of Laurel and Hardy films (on October 14 at the MAC in Birmingham), a revival of 1960s BBC radio series Round The Horne (on October 15 at the Victoria pub), and an expert recreation of Woody Allen’s early stage routines (on October 11 Oct at The Glee).
Other highlights include cult Cold War-set comedy 5 Lesbians Eating Quiche (from October 11-15 at The Old Joint Stock Theatre), top-rated podcasting authors Scummy Mummies (on October 7 at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall), The Infinite Monkey Cage’s Robin Ince (on October 13 at the Comedy Junction) and Simon Day (on October at The Glee), who last appeared in the festival way back in 2002 as part of The Fast Show cast.
