Bantock House reopens to guests
A popular historical house has reopened to visitors.
The Edwardian Bantock House Museum, set in 43 acres of green spaces off Finchfield Road, in Wolverhampton, is operating a revised opening schedule of Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
It reopened to guests for the first time since before the coronavirus lockdown on the weekend.
There will now be a booking system in place where visitors will be asked to reserve a time slot for a self-guided 20-minute tour so that people can enjoy the house in a safe way.
The on-site Courtyard Café has also introduced table service, where visitors can dine in for one hour with a maximum of four people per table. Booking in advance is advised.
Councillor Stephen Simkins, Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for city economy, said: “I am delighted to announce Bantock House Museum is opening to the public again and that visitors can dine in and enjoy the tasty treats on offer.
“The house and grounds are an asset to the city and set in a spectacular location on Finchfield Road, where the Bantock family and city manufacturing history can be explored.
“In line with Government guidance a number of social distancing measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
"I do hope residents will take this opportunity to indulge in art again, explore the collection and historical items we have on show and even take a stroll around the park.
“Bins are provided around the park and visitors are asked to use them. If the bins are full then please take your rubbish home with you.”
Donations
Slots are now available to book in advance or can be booked on the day at reception.
Visitors will be allowed entry in family groups and will be the only group permitted in the museum for the duration of their visit.
A number of social distancing measures have also been put in place, as well as health check questions on arrival, and ‘track and trace’ as required by the NHS.
There will be a separate entrance and exit and a one-way route around the house.
Face coverings will need to be worn while in the area and sanitisation stations will be available.
There will be an alternative accessible route available for those who need it.
Entrance to the house and booking is free of charge, but donations from visitors are encouraged.
