Churnet Valley Railway back on track as visitors return

The Staffordshire heritage railway has announced services will resume with revised timetables from August 1.

The Churnet Valley Railway will have refurbished coaches and, for ‘one- night- only’, a special rolling curry train.

Its new timetable offers twice-daily services every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday until November 1.

The return two-hour experience between Froghall and Ipstones, will depart from Froghall Station at 10:30am, with a second train leaving at 1:30pm.

Churnet Valley Railway has also unveiled its new socially distanced dining trains schedule serving Staffordshire cream tea and Sunday lunch.

Those looking for a more unusual trip on the train can book a table on the Bombay Express, for £30 per head, vindaloo veterans can sample a specially prepared three course, fine dining Indian feast on Friday, September 11.

Gregory Wilson, managing director, said: “The pandemic has severely affected the railway so we are now looking for support from the public, by inviting our valued customers back and by buying a ticket and travelling on our trains it will help to secure the future of the railway.”
