Zoo bosses said additional hand sanitisers have been installed at the tourist attraction to protect visitors, staff and animals.

But it will remain open and staff will continue to monitor Government guidance.

A spokesman said: "We understand everything is very much up in the air at the moment & everyone’s feeling a little bit wary about the world, but we want to assure you we're currently open.

"Keepers are making sure our animals continue to stay safe & well – please make sure you do the same.

"We’ve got extra procedures and additional hand sanitisers in place to protect our visitors, staff and animals.

"As an outdoor attraction we’ve got lots of fresh air and plenty of room to social-distance from other people.

"We are closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation and following Government and World Health Organisation guidelines and if there are any changes, we’ll update our website and social media pages accordingly."
