Black Country Museum boss is new AIM chairman

The chief executive of the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley is the new chairman of the Association of Independent Museums.

Andrew Lovett has stepped up from his previous role as vice-chairman to succeed Richard Evans.

“I am honoured to have the support of the board to take up this role and help lead AIM’s work in championing and improving the impact, sustainability and relevance of independent museums, galleries and heritage organisations right across the UK," he said.

He added that AIM was a cause close to his heart.

Mr Lovett started his current role at the museum in 2009.

He is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Museums Directors’ Council, the West Midland Mayor’s Cultural Leadership Board, and fellow of the Association of European Open Air Museums.
