Witches, ghouls and pumpkin lanterns were crafted by the children who then dared to go through the woods in a candle lit parade wearing a variety of spooky costumes.

Helen Watts, a parent said: “Being outside, enjoying nature, getting away from screens and spending family together are all the reasons we love coming to The Kingswood Trust. It’s been a great night here and I am really looking forward to all the outdoor family events coming up next year too.”

The sold out event attracted over 70 families to celebrate Halloween using natural materials and seasonal resources from the nine acre site.

After carving their pumpkins, going on a ghost trail, parading the pumpkins, making witches out of silver birch twigs, they all warmed up with hot soup and food from Woody’s – a new food serving hut recently opened following grant funding.

Rachel Wells, Charity Manager, said: “Volunteers and supporters at tonight’s event make this happen for children and families in Wolverhampton. We’ve been so lucky for the generous donations of prizes for our events, time and all the hard work given this year.

“It is another endorsement of our Queens Award for Voluntary Services of which we are extremely proud.”
