Rail enthusiasts flock to Chasewater
Dozens of rail enthusiasts turned out to Chasewater Railway at the weekend – as the attraction set out to recruit a number of new volunteers.
The heritage railway hosted the open day on Saturday, October 19 – with people from all walks of live popping along to chat to current volunteers about opportunities available.
Volunteer Dan Weeks said it was a brilliant day.
He added: "We are hoping to recruit around 10 to 15 volunteers to add to our team of 45 already. We want to be able to open more in the week, and we can do that if we have more people.
"We have opportunities for lots of different areas; train crew, locomotive crew, engineers, restaurant staff, station staff, shop workers and officers."
The Chasewater Railway is a former colliery railway, now operated as a heritage railway.
The line is approximately two miles in length, contained entirely within Chasewater Country Park.
Anyone unable to attend the day is still able to enquire about volunteering. Email volunteers@chasewaterrailway.co.uk or call 01543 452623 for more details.
