Ranbir’s tale told in Wednesbury exhibition
International Rangoli artist Ranbir Kaur has opened a new photographic exhibition at Sandwell libraries telling the story of her journey in colour.
Indian-born Ranbir unveiled the new exhibition A Journey of Colour, Texture and Design this week.
It follows a successful exhibition she held earlier this year to celebrate her 30 years in England at Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery.
Rangoli is a traditional Indian art used to decorate the ground in front of houses and places of worship, with designs created using decorative patterns marked out on the floor.
Ranbir is working with Sandwell staff to celebrate her 30 years of work in England, tell the story of her journey through colour through photographs and encourage people to follow her example.
Alongside this, she will deliver workshops with classes from local schools for children to make their own Rangoli patterns.
Louise Sutton from Arts Council England opened the exhibition at Central Library in West Bromwich on Thursday.
Residents can now see Ranbir's exhibition across the six main Sandwell libraries.
