Gardens in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire opening this weekend as temperatures sizzle

A range of gardens will open as sweltering weather and glorious sunshine descends after a week of rain.

And the green spaces bursting with colour will be unveiled in the West Midlands as part of the National Open Garden Scheme.

Two nearby gardens in Compton, Wolverhampton, will be on display featuring a range of classic flowers.

12 Waterdale will feature tall spires of delphiniums, lupins, irises, campanula, poppies and roses.

Clematis tumble over the edge of a decked terrace where visitors can sit, next to bergonias and geraniums, to admire the view.

And at 19 Waterdale, people will be able to feast their eyes on a s[ace built over 28 years.

Winding paths will showcase roses, honeysuckle, clematis, along with roses and ivy.

It also features a Japanese tea house and a berry garden, complete with a small bridge in the space – measuring a sixth of an acre.

The entry cost allows access into both gardens.

A garden in Kidderminster, near Dudley, will showcase a green space in an small Elizabethan-style herb garden.

Beautiful borders, with hanging baskets and a tiny knot garden will welcome visitors into Harvington Hall.

Marie Curie Hospice Garden will also showcase a ball fountain water feature, a large rose arch, vegetable plot and a pond area.

The Solihull garden is laid out to provide a peaceful and comforting place for visitors.

Three gardens in Birmingham will also be on full display over the weekend.

14 Pereira Road features gently-sloping gardens with shrubs, herbaceous borders and waterside planting.

50 Pereira Road will showcase more than 1,300 varieties of plants with African connections.

It features fruits, vegetables, herbs and more than 100 varieties for sale.

And 55 Pereira Road features a sloping-garden leading down to a space which features a range of colour.

In Staffordshire, three gardens will open in time for the heatwave.

Birch Trees in Eccleshall will show off a half-acre garden, with herbaceous and shrub beds.

It also features a greenhouse, vegetable bed and ponds which encourage wildlife into the garden.

And The Garth, Stafford, reveals a half-acre garden which features rare trees, perennials and varieties of hosta and ferns.

A two-acre garden with mixed spring bulbs will also be on display in Lichfield.

Millennium Garden reveals a host of golden daffodils, spring bulbs, mature trees and a burst of colour.

In Shropshire, a three-quarters-of-an-acre garden developed over the past 21 years will be unveiled.

The garden was completely overgrown, but it has been trimmed back – with two-sitting terraces placed in the space.

At the bottom of the space, several specimen trees and Davidia involucrata, known as the ghost tree, will feature.

The Liriodendron tulipifera, known as the tulip tree, will hopefully bloom in the hot weathe

Old apple trees at Beam Cottage, Ellesmere, also feature along with a series of rambling roses.

The area around the mere has been named Site of Special Scientific Interest.
