GALLERY: Arts festival kicks off in West Bromwich
An arts festival has begun in a Black Country town centre aiming to explore residents' favourite local places.
An arts group called The Caravan Gallery has set up shop at Sandwell with the festival's first exhibition, which is happening in West Bromwich.
Works of art including photography will be created which shows people's favourite places to visit, and reasons as to what makes their areas special.
The festival, called Blast! Festival of Photography, Talks and Walks, is happening from May 24 to June 29.
The Caravan Gallery has been commissioned to carry out the work by Sandwell-based arts organisation Multistory.
The festival has kicked off with an exhibition taking place at the former Poundland shop in Kings Square Shopping Centre, which opened on Friday.
Over the next six weeks, the festival will tour each of Sandwell's six towns. Next week the festival will travel to Tipton.
Amy McLauchlan, a production manager at Blast!, said: "This festival is about showing Sandwell in a good light."
As part of the festival, a map of Sandwell is being created as the event takes over the six weeks, which will aim to illustrate people's favourite places in the borough.
The public have been asked to get involved and share their thoughts and opinions with artists.
