Walsall Society of Artists launch new exhibition - in pictures

A host of vibrant and colourful paintings artistically created by members of Walsall Society of Artists have gone on display for its 69th exhibition.

There are 152 pieces of art exhibited at The New Art Gallery including 130 items hung on the wall and a record number of 32 3D works.

The launch of the exhibition was opened by contemporary sculptor, Robert Bowers, who has a number of pieces sites around the Midlands. He has designed works for The Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Award and The Royal Television Awards.

Many of his commissioned works are in corporate and individual collections such as those of Audi, Porsche, Ernst & Young, and Mo Mowlam.

WSA chairman Pat Hoskisson said: "Robert Bowers was very impressed and told me that it was one of the best amateur exhibitions he has ever seen.

"It is a big compliment from a well known artist. He was going around and making comments about different paintings to everyone taking part.

"I think that the standard is very high this year and all of the society members should be very proud.

"The gallery has done us proud, all of the paintings are hung beautifully."

The exhibition will be on until January 9 and many of the art pieces will be up for sale.

Members of the society will be demonstrating their art each weekend on December 29 and January 5.
