Final preparations are being made for next week's Staffordshire County Show and organisers are expecting more visitors than the 65,000 that walked through the doors last year as ticket sales have soared.

Some of the main attractions on Wednesday (May 30) and Thursday (May 31) will include the JCB Dancing Diggers and Rockwood Dog Display Team in the main ring and Alison’s Bee Class, Chartley Chucks and giant tortoises in the Country Pursuits area.

Plus there will be hundreds of trade stands featuring local produce and crafts along with a petting farm in the Animal Experience marquee.

Richard Williams, Chief Executive of the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society, which organises the two day show is 'excited' for next week.

He said: "We know a lot of people are planning on coming along as there has been excitement building on our Facebook page and enquiries to our office.

“We have some great new aspects at the 2018 Show and it is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.

“All exhibitors are in place and trade stands are full too, with less than a week to go everything is in full swing. I am very excited for the Show already.”

The show, which has been going for 218 years, will take place at the Staffordshire County Showground in Weston Road.

Online ticket sales have now closed but interested visitors can still buy in outlets until Saturday or pay on the door.
