Perton Spring Festival is back again for the twelfth year to learn all about wildlife from below the earth to flying in the sky.

The free one-day festival celebrates and educates about the local environment and visitors will explore natural wonders including how birds fly, how invertebrates tell us whether the rivers are healthy and how plants enhance the environment.

Over 20 organisations and projects are participating this year with the aim of engaging people about what is best about the local environment. There will be a chance to watch sculptor Robot Cossey use his chainsaw to carve a snail, meet Freddie the hedgehog and watch owl and falcon flight displays.

Gill Heath, Libraries Chief at Staffordshire County Council said: “This is a wonderful event that families look forward to each year. Not only does it bring the local community together for a day of celebrations and learning it also gives us a great opportunity to show off the library and all the different activities going on there. Last year we had over 1,500 visitors to the library so again this year we hope to get the same if not more.”

It is organised by Wild About Perton with Perton Library and Staffordshire County Council and will be held on May 12 at Perton Library from 10am until 4pm. Refreshments will be provided
