Crowds flocked to the Sandon Spring Fair in the picturesque surroundings of Sandon Hall, near Stafford.

Taking place across Saturday and Sunday, it was the second annual spring fair at the site and was a great success, according to organisers.

On Saturday the weather was a disappointment but it didn't stop people from turning out in their numbers.

The weather picked up and Sunday and it those behind the event said it was 'non-stop' all day long.

Manager of Sandon Hall, Cheryl Millward said: "It was non-stop all day on Sunday, the weather wasn't great on Saturday but it still went really well.

"We've had people coming from around Staffordshire because Sandon Hall is in quite a central location.

"I'm not sure how many people have turned up in total but its definitely in the thousands.

"There's been live entertainment, a bar and food court as well as over 40 craft stalls for people to use. Its been a really good weekend."

Organised in partnership with the team behind the Stone Food and Drink Festival, the event is a celebration of the great British spring.

Families enjoyed their Bank Holiday weekend browsing the various artisan food and craft stalls and there were even butchery and cooking classes.

Live entertainment was on the cards in the form of dance displays, acoustic music and singing acts from pop to classical in the centre of the hall’s sweeping lawn.

And there was also be a display of classic cars, courtesy of the Stone classic car club.

Children were well catered for with a farm zone with friendly animals to meet and fun farm facts

And there was a treasure trail organised by Discovery Trails Staffordshire which gave youngsters a number of clues to discover and solve.

Youngsters also enjoyed fun fair rides, face painting and craft activities throughout the weekend.
