Organised by Engineering UK the free event will see school pupils, aged 10 to 13, get up close to tarantulas, snakes with venom which researchers believe could become a cure. Attractions also include have-a-go workshops including coding to fly a drone, how artificial intelligence can help with work and play activities, what scientists and engineers do, careers panels and live shows.

The Big Bang Fair is on June 17-19.

More than 20,000 young people from across the UK attended last year with 80 per cent of them requesting to go on to do more STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities afterwards.

Engineering UK is a not-for-profit organisation set up to encourage more young people from all backgrounds to choose engineering and technology careers.
