Gail David, who lives in Bilston, has unveiled her fictional work titled 'Me, Myself and I:Prepare Your Case ' which is about the trials and tribulations of women who feel trapped in bad relationships due to their religious beliefs.

She wrote it to assist women who feel trapped because of their adherence to biblical scriptures relating to women submitting to men, but says the scenarios can also be used in counselling sessions run by religious leaders and relationship services.

Gail, a former church leader, describes it as a book of hope which carries a clear message to victims that breaking the cycle of abuse begins with building up their own identity, overcoming fear and drawing strength and strategy from God.

WOLVERHAMPTON COPYRIGHT NATIONAL WORLD TIM THURSFIELD -24/02/25Author Gail David with her new book Me, Myself and I which focuses on the victims of Domestic Abuse.

"It is written from my interactions with Christians because I can only speak about what I know, but it also applies to other faiths. Submission in relationships is a big issue which Christianity emphasises. Historically women were told to submit to their husbands, but there are other verses in the Bible which warn men not to do wicked things, not to betray their wives and to treat others well. God doesn't like violence."

"I wrote it because of the current environment of domestic abuse there's so many women who are going through issues.

"This book is all about preparing the mindset of a woman who's going through domestic abuse because a battle cannot be won until the battle in the mind is won first. So it gives tools to the person who is going through such a situation as to how to prepare the mind.

"Actually this is my second book. My first book was called 'Beauty and the Beast Unleashing the Beauty Within' and my editor told me there was something missing from that book - domestic abuse - which is why I decided to write this one," Gail says.

She explains that the tome is telling the stories of the victims using fictional characters, but based on on real life experiences of women in abusive relationships and the strategies which enabled them to overcome their situations.

She also helps to run a women's justice project held on Thursdays from 11am-2pm at Bilston College UK, in Mount Pleasant in Bilston town centre providing support for those needing legal advice.

Gail was recently a finalist in the Women's Business Club Author of the Year awards where she was also runner-up in the Overcomer of the Year category.
