The discounted tickets for the Castle Hill attraction are also available for claimants of working tax credit, child tax credit, employment and support allowance, income support and jobseeker’s allowance from March 1 – 31.

Zoo director Derek Grove said: “As a charity we want everyone to be able to have the opportunity to visit and not only see the fantastic animals and castle our 40-acre site houses but also discover more about the wonderful natural world around us.

“We‘re trialling this offer to ensure the zoo is available to as wide a range of family budgets as possible and we would be delighted if it enabled people to visit us to who wouldn’t otherwise be able to.”

The discounted tickets are only available to purchase online with families able to nab up to six tickets per household.

Eligible proof and named identification document alongside a booking confirmation will need to be shown upon arrival at the gate.
