Cage The Elephant ready to be unleashed on new UK tour - with stop at Wolverhampton

The Kentucky-bred rockers - led by brothers Matt and Brad Shultz - stop at The Halls Wolverhampton for the third leg of their UK tour on Sunday, February 16.

They have been missed by fans this side of the Atlantic and have already added an extra date to the tour after selling out the O2 Academy, Brixton.

Much has happened since Cage last stepped foot on these shores, with tragedy striking not once, but three times.

A year into the global pandemic, Matt and Brad's father died. They then lost two friends in quick succession to one another, sending Matt spiralling into depression and ending with hospitalisation after a mental breakdown.

And it was through music that he helped to pull himself out, culminating in their sixth studio album 'Neon Pill', released in May of last year.

"At the time, I couldn't grasp where I was mentally or emotionally, but I felt it subconsciously in the lyrics," he said. "Even though I was being swallowed up by a mental health crisis, there was still part of me that was present here and wanted to get out."

And get out they have to embark on a 47-date tour across the United States of America last summer - selling more than half a million tickets - before heading across to the UK this week and then on to mainland Europe.

Things will not be slowing down there though as they return to the US to support Oasis on the American leg of their reunion tour later this year.

“It’s an absolute honuor being asked to support such a legendary group as Oasis, as well as being one of my all-time personal favourites," said Matt. "I’ll definitely be catching their set every single night on tour. A true blessing, couldn’t be more thrilled.”

But first are their much-awaited UK headline shows.

And though they may be changed by life, expect Matt, Brad and the rest of the band to swagger on to the stage to get Wolverhampton dancing and rocking this weekend.
