In pictures: Newport Photographic Club members showcase more great work

Members of Newport Photographic Club shone the spotlight on their fine camera work at a competition.

Members have held part two of their first open competition of the season.

It was for the advanced section Prints and the Intermediate Projected Images and the competition was judged by Judy Mainwaring from Shrewsbury Photographic Society. 

Judy provided some helpful comments and congratulated the club on the high quality of its competition entries.

The advanced prints section was won by Maria Macklin with Splash of Yellow. 

Second and third went to Chris Lewis with Just Floating By and The Last Days of Autumn.

Fourth was Howard Broadbent with Early Morning Rialto Bridge and Chris Lewis was also fifth with Misty Rydal Water.

Alan Fowler made up the top six with Misty Morning, while Mike Warrender with Puffin Landing on Skomer Island and Brian Truslove with Red Arrows Vixen Break were highly commended.

The intermediate projected images category was won by Ian Rowley with Female Kestrel Mantling Her Prey.

 Ian Rowley took third and fourth with Female Kingfisher with Stickleback and Dog Otter and Fish Meal.

Stephen Haycock took fifth with Andean Flamingo and John Ridgway was sixth with Canary Shouldered Thorn Moth.

Ian Garnham (Green Man Morris Dancer) and Mark Jones (Sunset Silhouette) were highly commended. Also commended were Roger Walford and First Time Out of the Burrow plus Peter Palmer with This Old House.

Members also had a workshop evening photographing exotic pets. Snakes and geckos photographed came from a charitable organisation called Jelly Exotics which rehomes and rescues pets from the Telford and Shropshire area.
