Do you remember Rosie and Jim? You might remember the catchy theme tune “Rosie and Jim, Rosie and Jim, chugging along on the old Ragdoll". The iconic 1990's kids TV show aired on ITV between 1990 and 2000, but did you know the show has links to The Black Country and Birmingham?

One nostalgic fan of the programme is celebrating this show and its local heritage in a new Youtube video, where he explores and documents some of the local filming locations used in the show.

"Rosie and Jim" was a children’s TV series which featured two ragdolls who lived on a canal narrowboat aptly called "The Ragdoll", who would come to life when the boat owner had their back turned. This would often lead to them causing all kinds of mischief and mayhem.

The video was created by Jack Haywood, who runs the Youtube channel and podcast "Jack’s Throwback Attack", which focuses on his love of nostalgia and fondness for the TV shows he enjoyed watching when he was growing up. He has spent a year researching, filming and travelling around ,finding some of the Birmingham and Black Country filming locations used in the early series of the show in the 1990s, showing viewers what has changed and what has remained in the intervening years, along with facts about the show and behind the scenes pictures.

Jack said  “I remember watching Rosie and Jim when I was a kid and I always felt it was really cool that places I knew and that were local to me were featured in some of the episodes. Not only that, The Ragdoll Boat was also built in The Black Country and the show was made by Ragdoll Productions and Central Television, which were both Midlands based. Even though the programme ended in 2000, those who grew up with it still remember it very fondly, and I decided it would be a nice idea for a video and also as a tribute to the show."

Locations such as The Delph Locks and the former Sainsburys at Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill were featured, as well as Netherton Tunnel and The Black Country Museum. Over in Birmingham, places including Dale End, The Old Turn Junction and Brindley Place were featured. All of these and many more are visited in the video.

Jack continued “I’ve had help with this project from former cast and crew members, friends, fans of the show and people who allowed me to film locations and use photos, which has been lovely and I’m very grateful for. The reaction to the video has been very positive because so many people still remember and love "Rosie and Jim."

"Rosie and Jim" was produced by Midlands based Ragdoll Productions, who also created the likes of Pob, Tots TV, Brum, Teletubbies and In The Night Garden.
