Teeing up bar time after a round of golf
A golf club has set up its new bar area – to allow members to get a socially distanced outdoor drink.
Bridgnorth Golf Club has had to make a number of changes to the way it serves its members – with a fresh gazebo outside now known as the ‘Club Cafe’.
The fresh location is to ensure the club can continue to provide members with refreshments while meeting the latest Covid restrictions.
The club said that the new purpose built gazebo and coffee bar was funded by a grant from England Golf and the R&A, along with donations from members.
The structure will offer much needed covered outdoor space where members and visitors can relax, enjoy a meal and drinks – and also acts as an extension to the inside facilities.
The new consideration is something many organisations have had to look into as they reopen while customers are only allowed outside.
Club press officer Mike Purnell said: “Our patio has always been a popular place especially in the summer months, a real sun trap with superb views across the course.
"This lovely extension will offer extra shade and shelter from the elements. It’s planned to install heaters and lights, so in winter it will give members and visitors an enjoyable area for sitting out even on those chilly days.”
The official opening was carried out by Bobby Darley, a director of Bridgnorth Golf Club, House Chair and a past Ladies Captain.
For the time being Covid regulations mean that members have to wear masks until seated and orders are taken.
