The performance of He Banged The Leather For Goal - which was written by Sir Edward Elgar - was shown on The One Show, BBC One, last night.

It was performed at an earlier date by supporters groups Punjabi Wolves and Telford Wolves and shown on the big screen to Wolves' team, as they warmed up for a match.

Sir Elgar, born in 1857, wrote the song in honour of 1890s striker Billy Malpass. It is believed to have been the first football song ever written.

Sir Elgar was a world famous composer whose stand-out pieces include Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches.

But younger generations may not know about his connection with the club. He used to cycle more than 40 miles from Malvern to watch them play.
