Phoebe Bruerton, from Wolverhampton, was asked to sing for major gig venue Lancaster Live on their Facebook page after bosses spotted her singing online.

The 19-year-old performed a one-hour show on Saturday night, drawing in more than 2,000 viewers.

Phoebe had to come home to Tettenhall to live with her parents during lockdown, arriving back from college in March.

She usually studies at Bird College in Sidcup, London, a specialist dance, musical and theatre performance school.

She said: "I came home around March 15 and started singing on a few sites and Lancaster Live contacted me and said they had heard me sing and asked if I would like to do an hour set.

"I've been singing since I can remember – and have loved musical theatre since I was 10.

"It's so nice doing this sort of thing, during lockdown. In college we were meant to be doing a first and second year show in April, and I had landed the part of Maria in West Side Story. So it's lovely to still be able to perform.

"My mum and dad say they always know where I am because I'm singing!"

Phoebe has worked with Bilston Operatic Company before and performed as Annie when she was 12, at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

And before she went off to college she starred as Elle Woods for Bilston Operatic Youth in the popular musical Legally Blonde.

"It's nice to be able to practice while at home," said Phoebe, a former student of St Peter's in Compton. "I did an hour of musical theatre for Lancaster Live. The songs I performed included Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera and Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid.

"The dream is to get to the West End, or perform on cruise ships or touring – anything like that would be just amazing. I know it's a very hard industry but you have to just keep working hard."
