Birmingham-based Hannah Brown drops new single
Birmingham-based singer-songwriter Hannah Brown is back with her latest single, Hate Myself, out today.
The Nottingham-born musician who made the move across the Midlands a few years ago has often sung about the awkwardness of life and reflections on oneself, and her latest single follows suit.
The new single sees her adopt more of an indie rock sound than previous material, such as her previous album The World Still Spins.

It carries more than a hint of anguish in its deliciously swirling and jagged guitars that paint memories of the early-00s chart punk scene that open into a beautifully rising chorus.
Brown said: "Hate Myself dives into my struggles with self esteem, self worth and the often tiresome act of dealing with unsavoury social interactions. Finding new realisation in the idea that hating oneself is a choice that can be decided against, it sticks two fingers up to the “friends” that have only wished to walk over me."
Since debuting her new band at London’s iconic Notting Hill Arts Club in 2018, she has been invited to support international touring artists and secured an assortment of headline shows. Her first release with her new band - Further Away - grabbed radio airplay, and she will be hoping the new single does likewise.
Brown has always grappled with tough and honest subjects, but has managed to come out sounding hopeful and assured. Her music reflects her attitude in life of accepting the bad and using those times to transform your perspective into something positive.
Gaining inspiration from the likes of Paramore, Aurora and Our Girl, Brown’s rockier sound has been a deliberate move to not only enhance her live shows, but also reflect on her progression as an artist.
