Rain won't stop smiles at Dudley vintage transport show - with pictures
THE rain didn't dampen spirits at Himley Hall and Park yesterday, as the annual country fair and vintage transport show got underway.
Despite the wet weather, hundreds of people still turned out for the free event at the park, which ran all day Sunday.
Now in its sixth year, visitors could enjoy vintage vehicle displays, steam engines and a country fair.
Organisers said the event this year was 'bigger and better then ever' – as hundreds of people travelled from across the country to join the fun.
Bringing exhibits from all across England, there were fairground organs, tractors, classic cars, vintage motor bikes, military vehicles, and vintage cycles on display.
Visitors also enjoyed arts and crafts stalls, street food, vintage stalls, hand crafted collectables, glass-blowing, a children’s funfair, chainsaw carving, Meccano club, radio car club, a miniature railway and live music.
Lawrence Cox, aged 46, from Bridgnorth came along with 81-year-old friend Graham Large – who owns a Jeep.
The pair set up a Second World War display, complete with uniform, firearm, helmet and maps.
Mr Cox said it was his first year at the Himley event – but that his friend had visited many times before.
He said: "It was a really nice day. A bit of a pity about the weather but we did see lots of people there.
"We do World War Two re-enactments and always get quit a bit of interest. We don't just park the car and walk away, we set up equipment by the vehicle and make sure it looks good."
Mr Cox has been doing Second World War re-enactments for 14 years now – and said he greatly enjoyed setting up at Himley Hall and Park.
He added: "We had lots of people walking past, asking us about it. It was a great day."
