Preview: Sneak peek of hit musical Kinky Boots before it arrives in Wolverhampton
HIT musical Kinky Boots will soon be strutting straight from the Land Of Lola into Wolverhampton - following the official tour launch in Northampton.
The Express & Star where whisked off to Northampton's Royal & Derngate theatre this week, as special guests of Wolverhampton Grand, to receive an exciting preview of the performance before it bounces onto stage in the city next month.
And it's safe to say, it was magnificent. Wolverhampton, you are in for a treat!
The award-winning Kinky Boots - which will show at the Grand from October 16 to 27 - is set to star Callum Francis, Corrie star Paula Lane and Joel Harper-Jackson.
Inspired by true events, it tells the tale of Charlie Price, a young boy struggling to live up to his father's expectation and continue the family shoe business of Northampton's Price & Son.
With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of fabulous drag queen Lola, in need of some sturdy new stilettos.
The UK tour officially launched in Northampton this month, and received an exceptional welcome from theatre-goers young and old.
It's one of those musicals that just makes you smile - grin even - from start to finish; it's feel-good, funny, and fabulous.
Callum Francis, who plays Lola, was exceptionally wonderful. Every time Lola bounced onto the stage, a flurry of sparkle and colour, I just couldn't help but smile (and feel every so slightly jealous of her wardrobe).
Kinky Boots is a winner of every major Best Musical award and has won three Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Costume Design and Best Actor in a Musical.
It will be performed at the Grand from October 16 to 27, so don't miss out.
Evenings will take place from 7.30pm, while Wednesday and Saturday matinees are on at 2.30pm.
