Fun for all as Stafford railway show back on track
Enthusiasts who visited Stafford Railway Circle went behind the scenes of how a model railway layout is made and put together.
The club’s first open day was set for December last year, but had to be postponed due to heavy snowfall. It was soon rearranged for a scorching July weekend of this year, but despite the hot weather members deemed it a success.
Director of Stafford Railway Circle Ian Rae joked the day was helped along by two huge industrial fan blowers.
He said: “If you are a railway modeller you may well find that being a member of the circle adds to your enjoyment of the hobby.
“Not only can you take part in building, maintaining and running layouts rather bigger than you could manage to have in your home, but you will make new friends and enjoy the opportunity to acquire new skills and widen your interests. Got a problem with your own layout and would like help in resolving it? The circle is where you’re almost certain to find someone who can then help you.”
Visitors enjoyed viewing a range of railway layouts, with experts on hand to discuss any points of interest. More open days will be held in the near future at the group’s base in Stone.
