Ladies play! Ex-Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison busks in Wolverhampton - WATCH
She is widely known for her time as the loveable Heather Trott on the hit long-running BBC show EastEnders.
But now Cheryl Fergison has been carving herself out a new reputation on the streets of Wolverhampton.
The former soap opera star managed to turn a few heads as she entertained shoppers on Queen Street with a light spot of busking.
She wowed the crowds armed only with an acoustic guitar and her singing voice as she gave her all to a mighty rendition of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me.
During her surprise visit to the city centre, Cheryl also took the time to stop off at Bethany’s cafe on Princess Street where she helped raise money for charity.
The television star joined the cafe in its efforts to raise funds and awareness for the The UK Sepsis Trust – talking to people on the street about the cause.
It came ahead of the stars performance in Ladies Day at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre where she plays Jan – the single mother who gets the theatre crowds going with her drunken antics.
The tale follows four friends from a fish filleting factory, with the original story set in Hull before playwright Amanda Whittington agreed to re-write this version with a Black Country twist.
A Wolverhampton City Council spokesperson said: “Fantastic to have our beloved ‘Heather’ in the city.”
Cheryl and the rest of the cast, which includes Emmerdale’s Deena Payne, Emma Rigby and Roisin O’Neill, have been part of the production which has run since July 13.
