Joanne Shaw Taylor donates guitar strings to Guitarwrist charity
Black Country blues star Joanne Shaw Taylor has donated an unusual item to charity.
The Guitarwrist is a not-for-profit organisation that make bespoke bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings from artist's used guitar strings and plectrums.
The Wednesbury-born blues musician has donated guitar strings from her recent November UK tour, with 90% of the profits going to her chosen charity Target Ovarian Cancer.
Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, working to improve early diagnosis, fund research and provide support.
Other artists that have donated to the cause include The Joy Formidable, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Beach Slang, Pendulum and many more.
Around 95% of the components from the strings Guitarwrist receive will be used to create the jewellery pieces, thus reducing the amount of strings metal that normally ends up in landfill.
All of the jewellery are handmade in the UK by Emma Hedley Jewellery.
