Sedgley author tackles the world of paranormal in books
A Black Country author has tackled the world of the paranormal head-on once more.
Andrew Homer, 62, from Sedgley, has been writing ever since he was in his 20s.
The author and historian now has four books under his belt – with his latest ‘Black Country Ghosts and Hauntings’ acting as a guide to the best paranormal spots in the Black Country. Andrew, who also designed a ghost tracking app, GhostNav, said: “The book has been doing extremely well.
“It sold loads before Christmas, the Black Country Hub sold a lot, the Black Country museum, the Dudley Canal Trust and it’s been doing extremely well on Amazon as well.
“I’ve been collecting the stories for many years, so many of them are stories that I already knew. In terms of writing the book that took about a year but I had got most the research collected before that.”
“It’s a gazetteer and there’s just over 150 separate stories within the book and it is divided into different areas around the Black Country.
“There are a number of local ghost stories and there’s the co-ordinates and addresses so people can find them on Google maps.
“People pick the book up, they flick through them and they see places that they know.
“Because there’s so many different stories in there and so many different areas, there is something for everybody.”
The book features many Black Country locations including Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury and tells stories focusing on haunted castles, pubs, homes, and museums and canals.
One of the featured stories tells of how a ghost was discovered in 1994 at the Grade II listed Victorian style pub The Beacon Hotel in Sedgley.
Three other books have been released by the Black Country Museum costume demonstrator.
