Overheard At The REP: Take a look at the top tales the Birmingham theatre employees have shared with Twitter

#OverheardAtTheRep is a series of tweets that covers funny things workers at the REP have heard from the general public.

From children's character look-alikes to courgette research, chickens in shirts to why you shouldn't put a fork in your eye - the REP have heard it all, and its not likely to stop anytime soon.

"As a producing theatre the conversations that are had day-to-day behind the scenes can sometimes be amusing or bizarre when heard out of context." says Marketing Campaigns Officer Victoria Ellery-Jones.

"The REP commissions, rehearses and builds its own productions and the theatre houses a set construction workshop, scenic paintshop, wardrobe, wigs, sound and lighting.

"Bringing certain elements of shows to life can sometimes be challenging – for example for our Christmas production of The Hundred and One Dalmatians the audience will need to believe there are 101 dogs on stage, it’s in the title. Our production team are experts, however, when it comes to delivering some theatrical feats.

"On some days we hear the funniest things such as the day our Company Stage Manager wandered into the office and asked 'is it possible to put a chicken in a t-shirt?'

"Others have included 'I am 90% glitter and 10% awesome' and 'do you mean a full size elephant?'.

"#OverheardAtTheREP was born out of these conversations. Since then, we’ve jotted down the funny things we hear and shared them on Twitter.

"It allows us to show a side of The REP not many people get to see - or hear! - and gives people a humorous glimpse into the weird and wonderful chats we are party to.
