Lichfield Garrick's spring line-up revealed

Tickets are now on sale as Lichfield's Garrick Theatre unveiled the stars lined up for its 2018 spring season.

It is set to be a big year for the theatre with a variety of shows from live music to drama and family entertainment.

An all-star performance of the Importance of Being Earnest is part of the line-up with the likes of Gwen Taylor, Thomas Howes and Susan Penhaligon performing from March 27 to 31.

Blackeye Theatre will be putting on a performance of John Godber's Teechers on March 15.

Plus Crimes Under the Sun is a crime-thriller that will be on at the Garrick on March 17 with a cast of only four actors and actresses playing multiple roles. It is by New Old Friends theatre company and this performance follows on from two critically acclaimed Christmas productions.

Celtic folk and rock band Quill featuring Bev Bevan will be returning to the Garrick on March 2 to preform old songs and new tracks from their more recent album, Brush With The Moon.

International superstar Jimmy Osmond will follow two weeks later on March 13 then on April 6 BBC Radio 2 jazz presenter Clare Teal and Her Mini big Band will be performing.

On February 24, Crooners will be performing jazz favourites from across the years.

Audiences at the theatre will also be able to have a laugh with Bobby Davro on March 3 and enjoy watching BBC Strictly Come Dancing finalist Giovanni Pernice show off his moves.

TV and radio presenter, Paul Gambaccini, will be talking about how he ended up as the professor of pop on May 4.

This is alongside several tributes to The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond throughout spring.

There are plenty of performances for the family as well including Horrible Histories: More Best of Barmy Britain on February 21, Milkshake Live! on February 22 and Rod Campbell’s Dear Zoo on April 4.

The Lichfield Garrick’s executive director, Karen Foster, said: “I’m delighted to welcome so many wonderful productions back to the theatre. The people of Lichfield and district have shown their appreciation for our entertaining dramatic performances and we anticipate that there will be huge demand: book early to avoid disappointment."
