Artist Hyden Matthews, who performs under the name HY Direct, was filming a video for his upcoming single I Ain't The One at a derelict warehouse on Middlemore Lane, Aldridge last Thursday when the drama unfolded.

A torture scene in the video required Hyden, 25, from Perry Barr, to use a fake gun.

At the time when that scene was being filmed, a member of the public walked by and called 999, believing the violence was real.

This prompted six armed police to burst onto the shoot.

Describing the dramatic incident, Hyden said: "Everything happened so quickly, one minute we are filming and then the next we are surrounded by armed police.

"I can understand why somebody made that call to the police and I understand why they had to act so quickly like they did.

"It was a shock but we managed to talk to the officers and explain the situation.

West Midlands Police spokesperson Deb Edmonds said: "Police were called to a disused factory in Middlemore Lane in Aldridge just after 10pm on Wednesday 25 October by a passer-by who believed there was some suspicious activity going on inside, involving a gun.

"The police helicopter was deployed and following police arrival, it was discovered that six people were filming a music video with an imitation firearm.

"No arrests were made, though advice was given and the bb gun was taken by police.

"Officers are thankful for the eagle-eyed member of the public who made the call to police in good faith."
