City centre road closures ahead for Wolverhampton Vegan Festival
Roads in Wolverhampton City Centre are set to be closed as The West Midlands Vegan Festival hosts marquees outside of Wolverhampton Civic Halls.
The festival, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this weekend with its biggest event ever, will play host to over 170 stalls. 40 of these stalls will be in marquees outside of the venue, with event managers saying will leave roads closed for the entire weekend.
Red Lion Street, Mitre Fold and North Street will be closed to all traffic during the festival, meaning people wishing to park at the Civic Centre will need to access the car park via Wulfruna Street.
Searches will also be in operation. Organisers say shopping bags are welcome but to keep personal belongings to a minimum.
The West Midlands Vegan Festival is an annual celebration and promotion of ethical, compassionate, eco-friendly plant based diets and lifestyles.
It is the longest running exclusively vegan festival in the UK, and will take place in and outside the Wolverhampton Civic Halls and Art Gallery on October 28 and 29.
Event organiser Kevin White, comments, "I have been really inspired this year – with a big expansion for the event’s 10th Anniversary Special, which is my most ambitious challenge yet – with more attractions, stalls and space than ever before!
"This will be a unique event, on a massive scale, promoting and celebrating the vegan lifestyle like never before!”
The event will be opened on the Saturday by world famous vegan marathon runner, Fiona Oakes, who holds a staggering three world records for marathon running.
Fiona will also be presenting a talk each day, one focussing on her dramatic experiences competing in world marathons, and a further one on her experiences running Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary.
The 2017 festival will include over 170 stalls including clothes, makeup, skincare, food and more as well as cookery demos, live entertainment throughout the weekend, kids activities, raffles, competitions and free samples.
