Wolverhampton's Beverley Knight brings Leading Ladies to BBC Breakfast
Soultress Beverley Knight has spoken about her new album, tour and latest Leading Ladies supergroup venture as part of BBC Breakfast.
Wolverhampton's beloved Beverley spoke to presenters Dan Walker and Louise Minchin yesterday (MON).
Speaking with fellow singer and actresses Amber Patrice Riley and Cassidy Janson, Beverley spoke on her latest role in the Leading Ladies to celebrate songs from the stage.
The vocal supergroup are putting out an album in November.
The group was the brainchild of three-time MOBO winner Beverley, who recruited Dreamgirls star Amber and Cassidy, who played Carole King in the hit stage show Beautiful.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Beverley said: "It came about because my record label asked me if I'd be interested in doing a West End related album. When I saw Cassidy in Beautiful and Amber on Graham Norton I thought 'oh my god this is something that could be interesting.'
"The label then put us together and here we are.
"We all came together and started to choose the songs."
Amber said: "We had a huge list at first but we managed to get it down to around 20 songs."
Cassidy said: "We all took on different roles. It was really easy, it could have been a disaster, but it was great.
Beverley added: "It naturally fell into place, it really did."
Amber is currently on stage in Dream Girls whilst Beverley is looking forward to performing in panto in Birmingham soon.
The album entitled 'Songs From The Stage' is out on November 17 on East West Records, and features the trio performing belters from the shows Cats, Rent, The Bodyguard, Memphis and more.
