Birmingham Tequila Festival - review
Sombreros and ponchos could be seen around Digbeth today as The Tequila Festival rumba'd its way to the Rainbow Warehouse.
Sponsored by Jose Cuervo and Amigos Beer, the all-day event featured more than 30 different tequilas, tequila beers and cocktails to try as well as authentic Mexican street food.
Attendees were handed a free tequila shot to start their adventure upon entrance, as well as handy pocket tequila bible - packed full of handy facts and recommendations, based on flavours and occasions.
Using this information, people headed to the A-Z bar to select their tipple in either a half or full 35cl shot glass.
Drinks on offer included the likes of eight to 12 year-aged 1800 Tequila Silver, floral Burrito Mezcal Joven 100% Agave, smokey bacon-infused Del Maguey Chichicapa and more to take you on a tasty journey across the Americas.
Sponsors Jose Cuervo and Amigos Beer both had their own vibrant stands selling Jose Cuervo frozen shots and a variety of refreshing Amigos tequila beers, as well as offering a number of themed freebies.
Jose Cuervo mascots, dressed in skeleton onesies and sugar skull foam heads, encouraged the party atmosphere - dancing through the crowds and posing for selfies with laughing revellers.
Live music and DJs throughout the event kicked this party atmosphere up a notch - with exotic mariachi music encouraging the whole dance floor to erupt, before club tracks carried the party into the night.
Once you'd worked up an appetite, authentic Mexican street food could be found under the floral outdoor canopy from Muchos Nachos and Yes Chef.
Tasty treats on the menu included loaded burritos, vegetarian and meat tacos, nachos and English dishes with a twist such as the Mexican burger on offer at Yes Chef.
A festival would not be a festival without loud music, and a hefty amount of glitter. Artists The Gypsy Shrine were on hand to paint either half or all of your face with a spectrum of different coloured and shaped glitter.
Championing a friendly atmosphere, live music, and most of all tequila - Digbeth's Tequila Festival wowed hundreds of attendees with their variety of food, entertainment and distilled beverages served by their friendly and knowledgeable staff.
