Dudley Zoo photos show colourful past
Crowds turning out to catch a glimpse of a majestic polar bear and streaming up the hill near the iconic entrance.
These images show how families from years gone by were drawn to Dudley Zoo just as they are today.
The pictures have been released as part of the zoo's 80th anniversary celebrations. The milestone was officially marked in May.
But perhaps what is most striking about the glimpse into the past is that not much has really changed at all.
Lined up against present day photographs, subtle changes that have been made over time can be seen.
One of the most impressive sights from over the years shows crowds of people trying to get a view of the zoo's polar bears, which were a feature of the attraction until the 1980s.
The enclosure in which it stood remains, barely having changed at all.
A series of events have been held this year to mark the zoo's anniversary.
And although it might not look like it from this selection of images, the zoo is undergoing major changes.
It is in the second year of a long-term redevelopment masterplan as part of its commitment to renovating enclosures to provide more space for animals at the same time as ensuring people always have the best view.
The programme includes £295,000 of improvements to be completed this year.
Work is already under way on a new-look £90,000 farmyard to help cater for the growing number of youngsters paying a visit.
