Across the region there were 5,613 dogs washed, just breaking the previous record of 5,000.

Cannock's contribution saw 120 dogs washed and for every dog, there was a cost of £5 for everyone who took part.

All the proceeds go towards Support Adoption For Pets which help unwanted pets across the UK.

It took place in all stores across the North area for Pets at Home. Other nearby stores that took part included Walsall, Tamworth, Oldbury, Telford, and Merry Hill.

Sarah Jones, 43, Salon Manager at Pets at Home in Cannock said: "We're just thrilled, really really thrilled.

"The fact that we had so many people taking part all over the region was incredible and especially because we raised money for a good cause."

They are currently waiting for confirmation from the Guinness World Records but are hopeful that they have broken the record.
