Each year, the Mary Stevens Hospice hosts a community event in its grounds on Hagley Road, Stourbridge.

This year raised more than £14,000 thanks to more people attending the event than ever before.

A record number of attractions and entertainers such as Wagner, The Fizzogs, Gurcharan Bhujangy, Funtime Theatre's disney characters, Mommy's Mascots & More's Paw Patrol and Marvel characters entertained the crowds.

The day started with a huge parade from The Crabmill Pub in Oldswinford up to the Hospice, which was led by former X-factor star, Wagner, alongside a number of deserving local young people who had been chosen to represent the Hospice as the Queen, Princes and Princesses for the day.

After an official opening by Mayor of Dudley, Dave Tyler, and Wagner, the day played host to live music and performances.

Included in the day was also the first ever Mary Stevens Hospice Invitational Football tournament sponsored by M.Webb Groundworks & Plant Hire, which saw local football teams compete to be the first name engraved on the trophy which will live at the Hospice for the next 12 months.

That tournament was refereed in part by special guests such as the Hospice CEO, Steve Jackson, and former-WBA and Walsall footballer James Chambers, who also presented the children with their medals and trophies.

Amanda Bowen, Deputy Head of Fundraising & Lottery, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said: “We're overwhelmed by the response we've had to the day, and we're so, so delighted that everything went as we'd hoped.

"We can't say how grateful we are to all the volunteers, organisations, stall-holders and everyone else who made the day possible."
