Staff from open-air museums across Europe will descend on the venue for the conference

Visitors will also be delivering sessions around the theme with this year’s keynote speaker – Dr Patrick Greene OBE – starting the conference with his thoughts on what lies ahead for open-air museums.

BCLM director and chief executive Andrew Lovett will provide introductory remarks which will be livestreamed on YouTube.

The venue is holding the 28th Association of European Open-Air Museums Conference from Monday (aug 21) to Friday (25).

Mr Lovett said: “We’re delighted to welcome over 100 colleagues from open-air museums from across Europe (and some from across the globe) to the West Midlands for what I know will be a fascinating few days.

"This year’s theme of ‘resilience, entrepreneurialism and master planning’ is also extremely pertinent for us as we embark on our major new development project BCLM: Forging Ahead over the next five years.

"I hope we will all able to take away some valuable insights.”
