Bantock House museum and park, based on Finchfield Road, opened its doors to the youngsters for the special day aimed at recognising the importance of play.

The free event saw dozens of children under the age of 11 get involved in a raft of activities, from blowing bubbles to making dens, painting totem poles, bouncy on space hoppers and playing racket sports.

'Playday' as it is known, is the national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August.

As well as a celebration of children’s right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.
