The 51 year old's image has been painted on the wall outside the Rainbow Venues in Birmingham ahead of this year’s MADE Festival.

Goldie has spoken of his pride after becoming the first artist to get a place on the MADE wall of fame and has called the artwork ‘a killer piece’.

He said: “I feel quite honoured with these guys rolling out this killer piece; it's still the one true remaining art form that's very close to my heart.

“You can download music, but you cannot download art, you have got to see it in the flesh and how it affects you.

“There's nothing like it, nothing quite that rewarding.”

Today MADE Festival will take over Digbeth for a sold-out event featuring world class music, street art and food that celebrates Birmingham's thriving creative community.

Fresh from the release of his latest album, Journeyman, Goldie will perform a rare reggae only set during the daytime at MADE, ahead of a drum and bass performance of the night.

The Journeyman is the musician's first album since Saturnz Return came out in 1998 – in which he co-wrote the track Truth with David Bowie.

The incredible artwork celebrating Goldie's equally extraordinary achievements was created by Birmingham artist Ziner, in collaboration with the collective BabMag.

MADE Festival’s co-founder Pete Jordan said: “We are so pleased to have Goldie playing two sets at the fourth edition of MADE Festival, our third consecutive sold out event.

"There are few artists who encapsulate the ethos of MADE Festival in the way that Goldie does, and we felt he would be an incredible first inductee to the MADE Wall of Fame."

Goldie, known also as Clifford Joseph Price, was born in Walsall and spent much of his youth growing up in Wolverhampton’s Heath Town.

He spent time in children's homes before finding fame as a graffiti artist and later musician. He has also gone on to appear in films and TV, including roles on EastEnders and James Bond.
