A fun day was held at the Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill which saw an array of events - such as a fun fair, food and craft stalls and live music - on offer on Sunday (23) which were enjoyed by people young and old.

The Brockmoor and Pensnett Black Country Fun Day was described as the 'jewel in the crown' of the month-long festival, which celebrates the region's heritage.

Brockmoor and Pensnett ward councillor Judy Foster, who attended the fun day, said: "I would say this event has been the jewel in the crown of the Black Country Festival, which was organised and driven with the support of lots of people and Black Country Radio and we really hope it can continue to be an annual event."

The fun day was one of numerous events which have been held across the Black Country during the festival, which runs through July.

Organisers say each event is 'designed to bring the Black Country communities and people together using the celebration of our shared Black Country culture and heritage'.

Cllr Foster estimated thousands of people turned up to the stadium to enjoy the day and the variety of events on show.

"I took advantage of a head to toe massage - a full body massage," said Cllr Foster.

"There was food and craft stalls. The scouts provided the barbecue who were doing the burgers.

"Grace Church were there providing cakes and squash."

Actors dressed as Anglo-Saxon soldiers provided part of the live entertainment, who were part of a group called Age of Penda.

The festival continues with a screening of a film called 'Chains, Dogs & CHAOS' at Cradley Heath Library, in Upper High Street in Cradley Heath, today (25).

The film focuses on the chain-making heritage in Cradley Heath and a tribute to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

The Black Country Festival will culminate with the Coseley Festival which takes place on Sunday (30), which will see live entertainment and a range of stalls on show at Castle Street, in Roseville.
