Chance to dig for relics at festival
Metal detecting and how to dig for archaelogical finds will be two of the activities at the Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle on Sunday(July 16).
Staff and volunteers have planned a family-friendly archaeology themed day as part of a national Festival of Archaeology.
The event, called Dig It, will run from 11am to 4pm and promises to be lots of fun with many hands-on activities.
Families will be able to have-a-go at metal detecting and learning how to use a trowel to dig for archaeological finds.
Children will enjoy making fossil imprints in clay to take home and there will be microscopes to use to discover the identity of different seeds and to discover more about the lives of people in the past.
Museum events officer Pippa Ashmore said: "If people have always wondered what it is like to be a real archaeologist we would invite them to come and get hands-on with history and help the museum celebrate the national Festival of Archaeology."
Admission charges will be £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and concessions and £13 for a family ticket.
