Iconic guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi wants Black Sabbath to play Villa Park in a one-off special gig.

Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler are all well known Aston Villa fans and now their dreams of gracing the famous stadium could become a reality.

In a recent interview, Iommi has admitted that it would be a gig that would interest the band who would be 'up for it', should the opportunity arrise.

He said: “It was me talking about that, I started it! I think it would be nice to do that at some point.

“I haven’t spoke to the others about it, but it would be, honestly, and they’d be up for it.

"It’s early days yet, really. It hasn’t even sunk in as far as we’ve finished.”

Speaking after the band's epic Birmingham LG Arena swansong earlier in the year, Iommi told of his desire to stop travelling the world on tour.

He said: "It’s the last tour, no more tours," promised Tony.

“Maybe a couple of gigs, or two or three gigs will be all right, but I don’t want to tour the world any more."

Bassist, Butler, also told us: "It was good to go out in Birmingham at the top with such a good crowd," he said.

"(And) did you see my Villa bass?"
