Bake Off stars to appear at Cannon Hill Park's Foodies Festival
For the first time ever, Great British Bake Off fans can meet and get recipe tips from both Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown and local Junior Great British Bake Off Winner Amari Koryang at Cannon Hill Park's Foodies Festival.
The festival runs on June 23, 24 and 25 with a range of stalls, demonstrations and talks from professional chefs.
Candice says "I'm excited to return Foodies Festival for 8 of their festivals across the UK this summer, with two baking demonstrations a day giving me the chance to share my favourite recipes with so many of my fans and fellow bakers".
Amari, 69 years younger than veteran baking queen Mary Berry, has already joining cookery’s upper-crust. The schoolgirl was the real showstopper in the in the 2015 final, impressing judges with her plaited Sausage Rock n Roll Pizza, raspberry pinwheels and the icing on the cake was her Welsh-inspired two-tier waterfall cake.
Amari says she’s "really excited to bake for the Foodies Festival visitors in her hometown, and to meet Candice Brown".
From Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown to baking extraordinaire Charlotte White, master chocolatier Fiona Sciolti and top local cake-makers and patisserie chefs, the Cakes and Desserts theatre is set to expand to include not only top local bakers but also local chefs renowned for their outstanding desserts
Avid bakers can get hands on with our practical baking masterclasses or bring along your best bake to enter the Foodies Bake Off competition. The Chocolate, Cake and Dessert Village with freshly baked breads, sponges, tarts, jellies and desserts gives you the opportunity to taste, decorate and learn from local experts. Afternoon tea can be enjoyed in the Vintage Tea Room, where teas, handmade cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam are served on china from a tea trolley by vintage styled tea ladies and gentlemen, and vintage music for ambience.
Foodie fans can look forward to a celebrity and Michelin-starred chef line-up in the Chefs Theatre this summer, with Britain’s top chefs showcasing their culinary skills and inspiring the audience with their delicious dishes. Top chefs in the theatre include Dhruv Baker, James Wong, Juanita Hennessey, Saira Hamilton, Katy Beskow, Brad Carter, Richard Turner, Tony Cridlad, Nathan Eades, Andrew Scott and Nick Bennett.
There will be a focus on culinary wellness, with farm-to-table dishes, sugar-free cooking and ‘feel good’ food trends.
Bristolian Dean Edwards, resident chef on ITV’s Lorraine and runner-up in MasterChef 2006, will also appear. Dean says he’s “really looking forward to appearing on the Chef's Theatre at Foodies Festival for the first time with all my fellow Bristolian foodies! Foodies Festival, with its focus on healthy and delicious local produce and its celebration of the best local culinary talent, really matches my own cooking ethos and values. I'm excited to be a part of it - especially with the show being at home in Bristol."
Other attractions at the festival include yoga classes, a Kids Zone with kids cookery classes, creative workshops, a Drinks Theatre, street food, artisan market, live music and pop up bars.
