Steve Royle was also part of the smash hit Phoenix Nights Live, which last year raised around £5 million for charity.

He has also appeared on ITV’s Sunday Night Live At The Palladium and will be star billing at Fitz of Laughter Comedy Club in the marquee at Katie Fitzgerald’s in Stourbridge.

Promoter Wayne Beese, who also hosts the show, said: "Steve Royle has been one of the top comics on the circuit for a long time now and we are delighted he is coming to Katie’s.

"He is a very funny and unique act.

"With three top acts supporting him, we only have a few tickets left and we would urge people to get in quickly. This is not to be missed."

Support on the night will be provided by fast-rising Black Country comics Darren Harriott and Mike Crump, and Glee Club regular Tom Taylor.

Harriott, originally from Oldbury, moved to London a couple of years ago and is tipped for big things. He has been snapped up by leading comedy agency CKP, which also manages the likes of Micky Flanagan and Britain’s Got Talent star Daliso Chaponda.

Crump, from Dudley, starred in Danny and The Human Zoo, a BBC drama chronicling the early life of Lenny Henry.

Fitz of Laughter, which runs on the first Friday of every month, was recently named one of the top three comedy clubs in the Midlands despite only running for just over two years.

The club has played host to the likes of Gary Delaney, Zoe Lyons, Nathan Caton, Patrick Monahan and Tom Binns.

Other top acts to have graced the stage include Charlie Baker, Rob Deering, former Xtra Factor host Matt Richardson, Phoenix Nights' Archie Kelly, Jo Enright and Tom Stade.

A few tickets are still left for Friday's show.

They are £10 and are available, with no booking fee, online at www.skiddle.com/e/12945044 or by calling Wayne on 07759543750. There may be some on the door.

Doors open at 8pm on the night, with the show starting around 8.30pm.
