The English Youth Ballet (EYB) is looking for 100 young people to shine in its major production off Ballet Études & Nutcracker Suite.

Bosses are on the hunt for male and females, aged eight to 18, to rehearse and then dance alongside international principal dancers in three performances at the Grand Theatre, in Wolverhampton, from September 29 to 3.

Auditions will be held on June 5 at the Grand Theatre, in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton in two sessions. Younger dancers, aged eight to 11, will be seen at 4.30pm and older dancers , aged 12 to 18, at 6.45pm.

The company's director Janet Lewis says: “The EYB audition is an experience in itself. EYB is all about performance experience and this starts at the audition as the dancers are given a regular ballet class with parents and family encouraged to watch. We are looking for young dancers of all abilities who can show the audience how much they enjoy their dancing."

Auditions will take the form of a regular ballet class but with an audience. Dancers will find out on the day if they are successful. It is best to register in advance otherwise arrive 30 minutes early to register on the door. There is a £15 fee and all dancers participate in a full ballet class. Parents are invited to watch.
